Year in Review - 2023

As each previous year has been, 2023 was an eventful year for us. Now it's time to put all the highlights into one place. We are quite happy with our typical weekly routine - church on Sunday, housecleaning and laundry on Monday, exploring or projects on Tuesday and Wednesday, errands and working at the temple on Thursday, temple work/family history research/dinner and a movie on Friday, and yardwork and trying new recipes on Saturday. However, here are some of our less-routine activities. Some will have links to more detailed posts, some won't, but either way we hope you enjoy reminiscing with us.

Happy New Year! We're looking forward to 2024!!!!

January: We started this year with Wayne being unexpectedly released as the branch president in Belle Glade on January 1st. (However, we kept one last appointment with the missionaries at the park.) He was subsequently set apart as a sealer in the Fort Lauderdale Temple. So, this has been a year of change and adjustment. We still miss seeing our Belle Glade friends on a regular basis, but we are happy to be back in our home ward.

We went to the South Florida Fair with Weston's family, and had a great, albeit chilly, time.

February: In addition to the normal, around-the-house chores and activities, in February we took a hike, flew to Utah for a baptism, and had a picnic or two.

March: We had time for more exploring in south Florida - hiking, camping, and a trip to the beach.

April: After a very cold trip to Montana for a baptism, we continued exploring our beautiful part of the country.

May: We took a LOT of pictures and made a LOT of memories in May - taking a weekend cruise to the Bahamas, a birthday visit to my dad, and exploring New River Gorge National Park.

June: After spending weeks vacationing out of state, we were happy to be home, yet we still took a few local adventures, and even had company on one of them.

July: We continued the stay-at-home trend for a second month, exploring several beaches in South Florida in addition to spending time with the local grandsons.

August: This month included picnics at the park and at the beach and a lovely anniversary staycation

In addition, we went to Okeechobee Steakhouse TWICE (the second time to use the "two free entrees" coupon we earned on the first visit), and Wayne entered his first-ever cake contest and won first place (without bribing the judges)!

September: Wayne's mom turned 90 in September and we flew to Utah to help celebrate that milestone (while also visiting other friends and family), hurrying home in time to finish preparations for and attend stake conference.

October: This month brought a visit from Michelle's family, more exploring around home (Limestone Creek), and our first-ever "friends" vacation (a Caribbean cruise).

November: We took a month-long road trip!

December: It's time to celebrate Christmas! We've enjoyed temple trips, church meetings, baking and gift making/buying, along with a holiday staycation and the magic of Christmas Day itself. And, of course, creating this post. I wonder what our 2024 Year in Review will contain!
