NeverBored in May

As mentioned last month, I'm trying to make a habit of keeping this blog up-to-date with our normal, regular happenings. Although we didn't have a new baby join the family, it was quite an eventful month, and we're looking forward to meeting that new baby next month!

Beach Day #1 - The weather cooperated and we had a wonderful day at beautiful Deerfield Beach Park.

Cinco de Mayo - We used food to celebrate this holiday, just as we usually do, with Chile Relllanos Souffle for breakfast and Taco Bell (and Megan's delicious taco ingredients) with Weston's family for dinner.

SFWMD - That stands for South Florida Water Management District. On a beautiful day in early May we drove out to Stormwater Treatment Area #5 for a nice little picnic, but no hiking.

Baptism - Our little branch is growing!

Mother's Day - More food, plus some flowers and candy. My family does a great job of making me feel special every day of the year!

My father's birthday - Our first post-Covid trip was to visit my parents in Virginia; we arrived in time to fix a special birthday dinner for him. You can read more about our visit here.

Hike Day - One day we returned to Hungryland Slough for a 3 1/2 mile hike.

Park Day - And the next day we enjoyed our barbecued hamburgers for lunch at a local park. We're just loving these beautiful May days!

Stake Youth Activity - Ultimate frisbee with the missionaries.

Shopping - Now that he's fully vaccinated, Wayne's ready to go into the grocery stores and help with the shopping. That includes trying some new ingredients. Read about the first ones he selected here.

Gardening - Although I keep trying, I have yet to have success growing any vegetables here. Maybe next year! In the meantime, we decided it was time to say good-bye to the tomato plant for now. At least the birds and bugs enjoyed them.

Beach Day #2 - This must be a good month for visiting the beach. We had another beautiful day at North Beach Park in Pompano Beach.

Memorial Day - Wayne mentioned one of the things he misses about working is that he isn't able to anticipate weekends and holidays and vacations, because every day seems the same. However, he doesn't miss that enough to start working again! So, we celebrated the holiday by doing some ordinary chores before barbecuing some hamburgers. While our view from the patio doesn't show it, there hasn't been much rain this month and the canal's water level has dropped quite a bit.

This month's culinary adventures included Langosta Malaguena, Operetta of Seafood, and the Great Raisin Adventure. Looking forward to some more great activities next month!
