Happy Birthday to You, Dad!

One of the casualties of the pandemic was our annual Thanksgiving trip to visit my parents. So, once we felt comfortable traveling, seeing them was at the top of the list. Dad's birthday provided the perfect excuse, although none was really needed.

The next hotel on the list was the Knob Hill Motor Lodge (clean, basic, and perfectly adequte, but nothing special or fancy) and the next restaurant on the list was Aunt Bea's Barbecue (disappointing - we won't go back).

We didn't have the chores associated with preparing a big Thanksgiving feast, but there was still plenty to do in getting a special birthday dinner ready. Mom doesn't do a lot, but she still loves to wash dishes.

And Dad enjoyed his steak dinner and strawberry pie! Happy, Happy Birthday to you!

We enjoy visiting, but we also enjoy feeling productive, so it was nice to be able to combine conversations with helping organize papers. Isn't multi-tasking wonderful! I just wish we lived closer so we could do more.

We slipped away one morning to do our traditional hike at Grayson Highlands State Park. Lots of pretty pictures to see over on this post.

Holly wanted to share one of her favorite lunches with us - Pork Barbecue sandwiches from Miller's Market.

It was just nice to spend time with people we love. Looking forward to November!
