Adam's Special Day

Time for another trip! This one was to Montana to celebrate Adam's baptism, which happened to be on the fifth anniversary of his oldest sister's baptism. Fortunately, our plane travel was without the drama of our last baptism trip. This baptism also marks the halfway point for grandchildren baptism trips; there were ten before and we look forward to ten more in the future.

As pointed out by his father, Adam is friendly, kind, obedient and hard-working. Because of that he allowed me to take a few pictures, even when he doesn't like it. He invited several friends to his baptism, including several of his dad's grad students and their families. We hope they had a great experience. (Note that the font in their ward building is quite unique - basically just a large bathtub - but it serves its purpose quite nicely.)

Adam's Primary teacher, Sister Hedges was there (she gave the opening prayer), along with Brother Jacobson (a counselor in the bishopric). Mom and Grandma C. gave the talks (you can read about them here).

My favorite memory of the service was Brad calling Adam to his side and repeating the scripture, "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." We could say the same of him (and all of our children and grandchildren).

After a delicious pizza lunch at home, we enjoyed a little outing to the neighborhood pond where Adam showed us his kayaking skills and how his remote-control boat works.

That was followed by a delicious dinner of kabobs - chicken, vegetables and fruit - and garlic bread, with Adam's choice of blondies for dessert.

After that there was an intense two-person game of Monopoly. Grandpa won (he always does!) but Adam was a formidable foe, and the results may very well be different in the future. We had a wonderful day making memories!
