WOW 2024 - Bear Lake Reunion
After three years, it was time to have another WOW Family Reunion. Unlike our last one which was too soon after the pandemic for a couple of families to join us, everyone was able to make it this year. We had a blast during our time together. This time around it once again made the most sense to gather in Garden City, Utah and enjoy Bear Lake, so that's what we did. Stay tuned to see what we decide for our next reunion.
Day One (Tuesday) - We spent the morning shopping for groceries in the metropolitan area of Salt Lake City before heading north. We arrived in Garden City at the check-in time of 4 PM and were quite pleased with our selection of "Aces on the 9". We had stopped on the way to pick up fried chicken for dinner at the Maddox Family Drive-In in Perry which we enjoyed after everyone gathered together. We had a fabulous time getting everyone settled and reacquainted, which of course meant a late bedtime.
Day Two (Wednesday) - Picture Day!
Michelle was amazing and did a wonderful job, even with a couple of unhappy little boys clinging to her. We split into two groups that afternoon to go hiking. The trail to Swan Peak wasn't easy, but the view at the top was worth it. Limber Pine Trail is much more family friendly.
Day Three (Thursday) - Although disappointed that the Harris' boat wouldn't start, we still had a terrific time at North Beach State Park. The kayaks, paddleboard, and inflatables were put to good use, as were the shade canopies. Binoculars and a portable pump/inflator are handy tools. Don't forget the sunscreen! Oh, and remember to make reservations ahead of time, particularly for holidays and weekends.
Day Four (Friday) - It's a bit expensive, but renting a water trampoline at Ideal Beach (passes included in the house rental) was a fun idea. Even the shuttling and hauling (it's quite a way from the parking lot to the beach) weren't too bad.
Day Five (Saturday) - After a couple of hours of organized chaos, everything was packed up and cleaned, and we vacated the house by 10 AM. There was even time for a final family prayer followed by group picture before we each went our separate ways.
Lots of wonderful memories created! Looking forward to the next reunion!!
