New Year's Vacation Visit
Due to Covid-19 and rearranged school calendars, Brad and his family had a month-long Christmas break. When they first called to see how we felt about them visiting us sometime that month, we were a bit hesitant. Then they all got sick, and half of them tested positive for the virus. Fortunately, they all recovered without any problem, but once the concern of them transmitting the disease to us (or others) disappeared, we changed our mind, and they planned a vacation over New Year's. As you can see, we had a great time together.
The local cousins came over for our New Year's Eve celebration, which entailed lots of food activities, including demolishing the Christmas gingerbread house, teaching Grandpa how to flip a loaded quesadilla, opening a pomegranate, trying to open coconuts, and making (and eating) a Buche de Noel, as well as lots of game playing.
While we can't forget that we had to deal with a "check engine" light on the van which put it out of commission for half their visit, that didn't stop the planned activities from happening. Hooray for adaptability (and multiple car options)!

Did you catch the earlier mention of coconuts? For some reason the kids were fascinated with them. We bought one at the grocery store so they could try an edible one, but they needed one last hunt in the neighborhood before heading out to the airport!!
Thanks for visiting sunny Florida!!
