Hike #97 - Florida Trail Okeechobee Southwest - Day Five

This last segment of the "southwest" trail was also a straight line, for about 3 miles each way, right along the highway. We enjoyed our dike hike on this beautiful sunny but chilly and breezy day. Next up will be the Hike #96, the "west" portion.

We parked at Sportsman Village, which looks fairly dilapidated, but apparently the boat ramp still works, and there is a substantial concrete picnic table, although it was totally unshaded so we didn't bother using it. We headed south towards the camp site near the C5A canal, had a snack, and then walked back to the car. Along the way we saw three backpackers; this is a good time of year to tackle the Florida Trail.
