Lake View Beach
We finished hiking all the trails in Indiana Dunes National Park with an afternoon of our visit left to spare; that left plenty of time to check out the last beach on the list.
Lake View Beach had several picnic tables right near the street-side parking under a pavilion, but we noticed a single empty table with a better view of the lake so we snagged that one for our picnic. Even though it was overcast, the scenery was quite beautiful.
It wasn't too far down the beach, so after lunch we walked to see the Century of Progress Homes from a different angle. On the way we noticed the surf getting browner and browner, and commented on how unappetizing that was for swimming. Then we noticed the discharge pipe. Maybe it's just a stream with a high sulphur or tannin content, but we had no desire to even dip our feet into this water!
