Loxahatchee Slough - The Second Visit

During our first visit to the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area, we basically just scoped out what was available at a couple of the different entrances. This time we planned to do a double loop trail, and that's what we did!

We started at the parking lot off of the Beeline Highway and headed to the overlook pavilion about 1/4 mile away, then hiked counter-clockwise along the Loxahatchee Loop. When we got to intersection with the straight road on the left, we retraced our steps then turned to take the straight road on the right, the Echoche Trail. That led to an overlook tower near the intersection with the Ocean-to-Lake Trail. We then followed that trail west (our favorite part of the hike) until it intersected with the Beeline, at which point we turned around to head back to our car, stopping at the fishing pier along the way. Did you follow all that? It was a gorgeous day, perfect for our 7-mile hike. Here's the picture proof!
