Return to the Beach

The original plan for our day of exploration this week was to kayak out to Indian Key (down near Islamorada) and check out that state park. However, when we called Robbie's Marina, they said the wind and tides were not conducive to a safe trip so they wouldn't be allowing any kayak rentals. That was sad news. Fortunately, we were prepared with Plan B!

That was to return to the next beach on our list so Wayne could walk the southern part of the shoreline. (Here's the recap of the first visit.) To prevent a there-and-back trip, I dropped him off at the Dania Beach Pier (the next beach we'll visit) and then drove into the Mizell-Johnson State Park to set up our chairs in the shade.

It was a beautiful day! We decided to rate this beach 5 "suns" because the sand is nice and soft, there's plenty of beach, the water was nice and clear, and there's even plenty of shade! The only drawback is being in the flight path of the Fort Lauderdale Airport, but you can try to tune that out, and if you're into watching planes, maybe that's actually a positive thing!
