New River Gorge - Cunard

After finishing our hike, it was time for lunch. I figured we could find a picnic table at the Cunard River Access, so we headed down the road. This was also part of the 55K route, so we drove carefully. 

We found the parking lot and boat ramp, but no picnic area. However, Wayne asked a ranger who happened to be there, and he gave us directions to an unmarked spot down a dirt road. It was a beautiful little treasure, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring a bit down the abandoned railroad line. It was the perfect ending to our time at New River Gorge National Park.
