New River Gorge - Kaymoor Trail

 

We expected this to be an 8-mile hike; it turned out to be 10. We expected it to be a fairly empty trail; turns out it was part of a 55K course so we had dozens of runners passing us both directions. We expected a dry path; it turned out to be fairly muddy (at least in many spots you had to watch where you stepped). We expected to have a great time, and we did!

This little section of what looks like kudzu was our favorite part of the trail, and the sense of accomplishment for finishing the Kaymoor Trail was great.
