Atlantic Ridge Preserve - The Sixth Visit

It's been a few months, so it was time to return to Atlantic Ridge Preserve and take another hike. This time we completed 7 miles in 3 hours, and while there were a fair amount of dry trails, we also got our feet wet several times. Fortunately, it was a nice warm day and, even better, there weren't any creatures in the water.

From the parking lot, past Post #3 to

Post #7, then east to Post #11 to head north.

Last time we wanted to head south on that little section, but we couldn't find the intersection (on the trail between Posts #9 and #7) because it wasn't marked. The southern end is marked (Post #11), so we decided that this time we would start there. Although we now know where the northern intersection is, it really isn't obvious, so beware if you want to go that way.

Post #15 to Post #14 was a bit wet.

Post #14 to Post #12 was very wet,

like 8" deep with no dry spots to be found wet,

and so was the little spur to the boundary.

Heading to Post #13 the trail dried out quite a bit. Just a foot change in elevation makes a difference in south Florida!

If we had turned left (or east) at the post, we might have kept our feet dry for a while. (We'll do that section across to Post #14 next time.) However, we turned right-ish (or south) to head back to Post #9, and that meant crossing the canal we had been following.

I wonder if the park will ever install any bridges.

Retracing our steps from Post #7 back to the parking lot.

Thanks to the cool phone app, we can see where we went.
