Return to the Sixth Floor Museum
You may or may not remember that because we had a plane to catch, we ran out of time to thoroughly explore the Sixth Floor Museum when we visited Dallas a few years ago. Rectifying that became our goal for this trip, and we succeeded. They no longer have the little numbered guide (must be a Covid casualty), so Wayne wasn't positive where exhibit #37 was, but we were pretty sure it was near the end. In addition, there was almost an hour's worth of videos to watch, so it's a good thing we didn't do that last time, but we enjoyed them this time. This is actually a very well done tribute to the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy, Jr. Feel free to visit yourself if you're ever in Dallas.
Last time the special exhibit on the 7th floor showed 50 years of magazine covers of John F. Kennedy. This year it described th 1968 "Poor People's Campaign" which built a tent city in Washington, D.C. for a few weeks. It was interesting, but I preferred the prior one.
Afterwards we stopped for lunch at another Texas institution. Apparently, the absence of ketchup, and the addition of mustard and fresh chopped onions, is what makes these burgers unique. Who knew? I wanted to save room for our Texas barbecue for dinner, so I ordered the Jr. Burger, but their Patty Melt looks super delicious. I found a copycat recipe so I can try it someday at home. Do you have a favorite item from their menu?
