Dallas - Day Five

While exploring the Perot Museum was at the top of Jeff’s list, visiting the Sixth Floor Museum was at the top of Wayne’s list. When I looked through the Dallas travel guide books, this walking tour of the city by Lonely Planet caught my attention. It’s normal for parents to put their children’s wishes first, but it also made the most sense to leave our activities for Monday’s agenda. Jeff’s family joined us on the walking tour, which started at Dealey Plaza.

Our destination for lunch was The Farmers Market (five long blocks past everything else). Next time we won’t bother walking the extra distance, at least not on a hot, hot day, but we did enjoy our lunch.

Then we said good-bye to this cute little boy and his mama (who stayed in the air conditioned building) and walked back to the car for more good-byes. We’ll be back!

While they headed home for naps, we made our way to the Sixth Floor Museum. It was surprisingly busy for a Monday afternoon, but we were able to see most of the exhibits before having to leave for the airport. Unfortunately, because we didn’t get to see ALL of them, we’ll be back there as well!

I made the time to slip upstairs for a quick look at the special exhibit – 55 years of magazine covers.

Also included were these two “mosaic” pictures, a technique I find quite captivating. Don’t you?

The end.
