Bermuda Cruise - Embarkation Day
For years my mother-in-law has been trying to visit Bermuda. She's actually been on the cruise ship a couple of times, only to be diverted due to storms. Then the pandemic cancelled another scheduled trip. We tried again this year, and while there were some stressful COVID-related hoops to jump through, she managed to make it to another country, and her family got to go with her!
The Norwegian Joy left from New York on Mother's Day. NCL offers the opportunity to bid on stateroom upgrades, and each of us decided to do so, and the bids were accepted. So our contiguous inside staterooms turned into balcony staterooms spread out throughout the ship. However, we decided we quite liked having our private balcony. Did we like it enough to pay the extra cost to have one in the future? We'll have to wait and see.
We enjoyed sailing down the Hudson River and past the Statue of Liberty. Going under the Verrazano Bridge was a bit disquieting, even though intellectually we knew we wouldn't hit it - it just seemed too low!
Off to sea! Then it was time to enjoy a delicious dinner at Teppanyaki, followed by the evening's onboard (and very loud!) entertainment.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom! So glad your dream finally came true!!
