Bermuda Cruise - Specialty Dining

Le Bistro indoor dining

One of the promotions offered by Norwegian Cruise Line for our family cruise was dinner at two of their specialty restaurants. While I don't know that we would have forked out additional cash for the experience, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals away from the main dining rooms. Coincidentally, we reserved them for the first and last nights, and that was a great way to bookend our time together.

Teppanyaki - While everyone else has dined at a Japanese-style hibachi restaurant, this was mine and Wayne's first experience. It was quite enjoyable, even though we felt our chef was a bit over-the-top in the entertainment department; maybe others expect that. The food was delicious and the evening delightful.

Le Bistro - A typical French restaurant, but a bit on the dark side (which isn't good for aging eyes trying to read menus, or picture taking). Delicious food, though! I thoroughly enjoyed my Scallops and Cauliflower Soup, Goat Cheese and Beet Salad, and Roast Duck and Wayne selected Escargot, Onion Soup and Beef Tenderloin. See the photo below for the fancy French spellings of these dishes!

The strawberry dessert was much prettier, even from a distance, but I like meringue-based dishes and don't make them at home, so I selected the Ile Flottante; it was very good - nice and light and airy. Wayne was quite pleased with his Marquis au Chocolat, declaring it the best dessert of the week, even if it did look like a black hot dog! Maybe the chefs will change their presentation ideal before our next cruise, and the best tasting desserts will also be the most beautiful.

These are just the two restaurants we tried; you can read about all of the options offered here.
