Beach Day - Fort Lauderdale North
Time for another beach day! This time our destination was Fort Lauderdale City Beach, the north section. We parked at the little lot on 27th street. Once you leave the paved area, you're literally on the sandy beach; can't get much closer!
After walking the mile and a half to Sunrise Blvd - which marks the beginning of the "central" section - and back, Wayne was ready to go swimming. I got wet as well, but I didn't dunk my head. Supposedly the water temperature was 80 degrees, the same as the air temperature, but with a brisk wind it felt a bit chillier. We're not complaining, though, most of our family members were dealing with temperatures in the 40s when we were at the beach.
It really was a beautiful day! What do you think of these bicycle racks? I think they're quite clever and artistic.
As I mentioned in our last beach post, every trip has something unique to make it memorable. On this one, Wayne's chair broke as he tried to adjust it to stay in the shade. About the same time we were debating whether to add money to the parking meter; this helped us make the decision to leave.
We imagine this parking lot fills quickly during the busy season, and it would have been nice if there were restrooms on site. Because of that, we only rated the beach a "3" but don't let that stop you from visiting. It's a wonderful piece of paradise.
