Dad's Funeral
We started the year with one funeral, so it almost makes sense to end the year with another one. Dad's funeral followed basically the same schedule as Mom's. It did feel quite a bit less rushed, though, which was nice. We started with a morning viewing followed by the funeral service, where the four siblings shared stories and granddaughter Tori played "Amazing Grace" on the flute. The entire meeting was beautiful and filled with happy tears. We're so grateful Mom and Dad are reunited; he really missed her this year.
Since Dad served in the Air Force during the Korean War, we were able to arrange for military honors at the cemetery. That was quite touching.
We didn't stay long since it was so cold, even colder than in January, although fortunately we didn't have to deal with snow on the ground.
Before heading back to the church for the family meal and more visiting, we took one final "4 generation WOW" picture. (You can find one of the first ones here.) The Relief Society sisters did a wonderful job preparing a delicious buffet and we appreciated their kindness and thoughtfulness.
Dad's youngest sister Carol, and sister-in-law Eileen
Two more great-grandchildren are on the way!
