Cornbelly's
I don't think I've ever been to a corn maze, so when Michelle suggested Cornbelly's as an option for something to do during our visit, we decided that would be a fun, new experience. It was a bit chilly, which wasn't so fun, but that's our fault for deciding not to bring coats! We learned that Hayden and Michelle's first date was to Cornbelly's. In fact, he took several girls there as first dates. So, keep that in mind if you're looking for something unique to do with friends. We also learned that there are two locations now in Utah County. The original one is near Thanksgiving Point, and that's where their family had gone in the past. However, the Spanish Fork location includes a little train ride, so that got Theo's vote, and everyone else's as well.
Since we arrived in Spanish Fork/Springville at lunchtime, we decided to eat at an actual restaurant first - Strap Tank Brewery*, but we could have assuaged any hunger pains with tasty treats from the food stands at Cornbelly's. The first thing you see from the parking lot is the giant slide, so that's what the boys wanted to do first. So, we did. You haul your tube up the hill, then slide down. The boys had fun, and I even went down once!
We never did make it over to the humongous corn pit, but we did share the family story of an answered prayer. (David lost his wedding ring in one once, little Evelyn prayed they would find it, and they did!) Instead we headed over to the Cornado ride. (There were a couple others as well.) Following that the boys wanted to climb on the rope contraptions.
Eventually we did make it over to the corn maze. Grandpa was wearing his good shoes so didn't want to walk in the mud. He watched from the observation stand while the rest of us had fun among the cornstalks.
Giant pillow-type trampolines! Then we were off to ride the train and "hay" wagon.
There were several carnival-type activities. I successfully rolled each bowling ball to the intended valley and navigated a golf ball around the openings in the plywood to the top - and was quite pleased with those accomplishments. Before leaving, the boys tried one more slide, this one attached to an old dump truck. What a fun afternoon we had at this autumn festival!
*We saw a couple of Strap Tank Brewing Co. catering trucks below us in the parking lot while sitting on our balcony in St. George. Considering I've never heard of the company before, I thought that was quite a coincidence.
