An Anniversary Staycation - The 2025 Edition
There was a reason (although I'm not sure I remember it) for pushing this year's anniversary staycation into September, but the day came, and we had a terrific time. We stayed at the Homewood Suites where Wayne spent months living as he started his new job in West Palm Beach. He was pleasantly surprised to see that it was updated. We were also surprised to receive a room upgrade, and at a lower rate than when we reserved it. We quite enjoyed our room for the night.
Our activity for this little vacation was to explore City Place in West Palm Beach. Since the Kravis Center is considered part of City Place, we've been there many times before, but today we walked from one end to the other.
We also decided we'd eat dinner and lunch there. Because this was to celebrate our anniversary, and not just to have dinner before a show, we decided to eat at Ruth's Chris Steak House. Our last experience with Ruth's Chris - Steven's BYU graduation dinner - was not very impressive, so we were hoping a different location would be better. Fortunately, it was, even with a party of 20 just a couple of tables away. Our server was quite attentive, the food was delicious, the prices weren't totally outrageous, and they even wished us a Happy Anniversary!
We returned the next day to finish our exploration.
At the beginning of the last Kravis concert season, we found a City Place map and started visiting the different restaurants for dinner before the symphony. The next one on our list is Moxie's. Apparently, it's still "coming soon" so maybe we'll end up trying Maman's first. We'll see.
We had time before our lunch reservation to walk into a couple of shops, Crate and Barrel and Sur La Table. So many fun kitchen gadgets! But we managed to walk out without buying anything. Our personal kitchen is very well stocked.
Lunch at City Cellar was great - a wonderful way to end our staycation!
