Rock House Ridge Trail

The hike we took on this visit was Rock House Ridge Trail, which started at a picnic area. The trail was named for the giant rock at its beginning, used as a shelter by earlier inhabitants of the area.

This was a beautiful hike through the woods, up and down along the Valleys and ridges.

The trail ended at the “Homestead” area and we took some time to explore the various buildings still standing - a couple of houses, a barn, a spring house, and a couple of sheds.

There was even a small stage (I guess they have musical entertainment occasionally using that great expanse of lawn for the audience) and an old cemetery. We appreciated our opportunity to visit this park on a gorgeous summer day!
