Guadalupe Mountains - A Sneak Peak (part two)

After we finished exploring what we wanted to at McKittrick Canyon, we headed over to the main area of the park - Pine Spring.

We took the short Pinery Trail.

We checked out the little bookstore and read all the exhibits at the visitor center.

We learned that the distinctive mountain I had seen on hikes earlier in the week was El Capitan, not Guadalupe Peak.

We noticed a short trail from the visitor center to the campgound. We also checked out the campground itself. It's fairly primitive and many of the sites are walk-in, but there are a few close to parking spots. Sites 12-16 look to be the most ideal.

We checked out the trailhead for many hikes, including the one to Guadalupe Peak.

Then we ate our lunch at the CCC built picnic area, admiring some of the beautiful flowers and plants that we had learned about earlier in the morning. After that, we drove back to our hotel to relax a bit and pack our suitcases. We're looking forward to our return trip next year!
