Carlsbad Caverns - Chihuahuan Desert Nature Trail

 

This nature trail starts at the visitor center parking lot and ends near the bat flight amphitheater, but we didn't realize that until the end and did it backwards. Oops!

This is an easily identifiable tree cholla; each one is fascinating and unique.

Many of the prickly pear cactus looked sad and dying, but this one was beautiful and vibrant.
