Peanut Island
We are fortunate to have many different options when selecting where to go find a beach. Because it had the added bonus of requiring a boat/ferry ride, we opted to head to Peanut Island. It was a great choice, and we had a wonderful day!
The first order of business once on the island is looking for the perfect spot to drop the gear. We decided to head to the bridge that led to a mini lagoon. There are picnic tables there, but they were occupied by a school group, so we selected a different one. The boys were anxious to have their floats inflated so they could get in the water, and Michelle got out her camera. Maybe someday we'll see her results; I'm positive her pictures will be better than mine.
After lunch, the boys were back in the water, having a grand time floating back and forth in their boats and submarines. What great imaginations!
Grandpa enjoyed his day at the picnic table, and helped us keep track of time so we wouldn't miss the last ferry back.
One of the options on the things-to-do list was visiting Manatee Lagoon. The webcams showed that there weren't any manatees swimming in the lagoon - we had a delightfully warm week - but since it was on our way home and we'd never been, we decided to drop in even if it was just before closing. We had a nice, quick visit, and now we'll know what to expect the next time we consider going there.
