Key West City Walk

The next hike in our hiking book was a city walk through Key West. Technically it was about two miles, but we did a fair amount of back-tracking (mainly trying to find a restaurant that was open!) so we logged closer to seven miles. We had fun, made some great memories, and thoroughly enjoyed our September staycation.

I had done my research and selected three different options for dinner - but all of them were closed for vacation or renovations! We finally found an open restaurant and enjoyed our seafood dinner. However, because that took longer than planned, we got caught in a torrential downpour on the walk back to our hotel. It might not have been so bad if we had expected it (although I doubt umbrellas would have helped at all), but when we started our walk there was zero percent chance of rain until close to midnight.

We knew that a possible storm was brewing south of Cuba (turned out to be Hurricane Helene), but we also knew it would take a few days to reach Key West, so we didn't cancel our planned trip. Everything worked out and it was just beginning to get breezy as we left.

The Hibiscus Motel was a pleasant place to stay, and perfect for our plans.
