Halpatiokee Regional Park - The First Visit

Halpatiokee Regional Park, near Stuart, showed up next on our "Things to Do" list, so off we went on a gorgeous summer day to see what we could find. We discovered there are a lot of activities to do at this park - soccer, football and baseball fields, tennis and pickleball courts, a disk golf course, a roller hockey rink, hiking trails, a canoe launch, plus a playground and picnic pavilions. We'll have plenty to keep us busy for a while!

For this first visit, we decided to check out their disc golf course. It would have been helpful to print out the map at home, but fortunately we stumbled upon hole #1 at the beginning of our search, and we managed to find the remaining holes as well. However, now that I'm looking at that map, there have been some changes. Tee #4 became Tee #1, and they added a hole between the old 5 and 6. The old #8 became the current #6. Maybe you should disregard the online map!

Some of the holes were in the woods, some were on the grass. Some were marked better than others. However, we had a great time, got in about 2 miles of walking, scored way over par for the course, and then hurriedly ate our picnic lunch because the gnats were quite bothersome.

All in all, we had a great time and look forward to returning for tennis and a barbecue.
