Heron Rookery

It was a cloudy, misty day and the bugs were out in force for this hike along the Little Calumet River. My object was to do the 3 mile there-and-back trail as quickly as possible, so there aren't a lot of pictures. We didn't see any herons, either. Apparently, this area is no longer a heron rookery, but the name hasn't been changed. 

 

 

We didn't see a lot of wildflowers, apparently they bloom earlier in the year, but we did find a some cool mushrooms and there were some beautiful blue butterflies flitting around - too quick to capture in a photo.

We reached the other little parking area, then turned around to head back to our car.
