Rabbit Creek Trail - Part One

The park alerts said the bridge over Abrams Creek on the Rabbit Creek Trail was out, but it was difficult finding where on the trail that was. Finally, the third person we spoke with said they thought it was at the beginning. So, we decided to check it out, and hike the trail anyway if the crossing was doable. It was, so we took off our boots, walked across the slippery rocks, and put them back on.

The next portion of the trail was basically walking up the "trail turned into a stream" but eventually things dried out and for the next three miles or so we had a delightful trek.

The original plan was to go to the junction with the Hannah Mountain Trail. However, we thought there was a good chance Abrams Creek would cross the trail again before that point. We were right. And we decided it was a bit too deep and swift to cross. So, we turned around, and retraced our steps.

Not far from the creek is a backcountry campsite which was the perfect place to eat our lunch.

Just so you know, it's easier traversing a trail-turned-creek going uphill than downhill.

We took off our shoes, crossed the creek again, and made it back to our car. Isn't Cades Cove beautiful?
