Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum

Many years ago, as part of hiking the Florida Trail, we camped across the street from this Seminole museum and decided that someday we wanted to come back and visit it. Once we were retired, it moved up the list; however, during the pandemic (which is when we retired) it was closed. Now that it's open, it was finally time to visit. Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki consists of an indoor museum with several different exhibits - which we were able to go through in a couple of hours - and an outdoor boardwalk - about 1 1/4 miles in length. A couple of school classes arrived at the same time, but they were well-behaved - and left before we did - and we had a delightful time.

At this little pavilion, school children learn that Seminole society is built around eight clans—Panther, Bird, Wind, Bear, Deer, Toad, Snake, and Otter. Children are members of their mother's clan. Then they can go explore some living history replica buildings.

This museum was first on the South Florida section of the Florida Attractions map and brochure. Next up is Boomers. That looks like something that will be much more enjoyable with some grandchildren along for the fun.
