Layton Nature Trail

 

Time for the second hike (here's the first) at Long Key State Park! First we headed to the main entrance and then to the picnic area, where we enjoyed exploring along the ocean side of the island before eating our delicious barbecued hamburgers.

After our barbecue, we headed off to the trail, parking across the street at a little mini-mart, because there's no parking at the trailhead. This was a very short hike that took us in a figure eight loop out to the bay side of the key.

This was a long day of driving for a quick little hike, but worth it, especially since on the way home we took our favorite little detour in Homestead to get shakes at Robert is Here!
