A Short Late-afternoon Hike

Although I followed the trail from the Governor's House Picnic Area to the Family Campground one time, years ago (while waiting for him to complete a loop hike), Wayne never has. So after setting up camp, we headed that direction.

This segment is considered part of the Florida Trail system (maybe so through-hikers can camp there), which means we were looking for blue blazes.

Look at the gorgeous Florida grasslands! And other beautiful and interesting sights as well.

We didn't set the walking app, but guessed it was about 1 1/4 miles to the picnic area. Once we reached previously traveled terrain, it was time to turn around and retrace our steps back to camp. What a delightfully pleasant way to spend an hour!
