Thanksgiving 2022

We weren't originally planning on hosting Thanksgiving dinner at home this year, but things changed. Once we realized that instead of being the company, we'd have the company, the first order of business was to select a menu (find it here), and then go shopping. I could have stuck with simple fare, but I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen. Our "new" ingredients included watercress, fennel, and chestnuts. (We never did find endive or hazelnuts; maybe some other time.)

Thanksgiving morning we prepared a couple of pies, put the turkey in the oven, and got the side dishes ready. Oh, and did a few sinkfuls of dishes. Everything was ready for our company.

Somebody thought the finished turkey looked a bit funny, but no one complained about the taste.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visitors, and I think they had a great time as well.

It was a beautiful day filled with memory-making moments, not the least of which was help with even more dishes! We have so many things to be thankful for, and appreciate the holiday that encourages us to express that gratitude. Happy Thanksgiving! May we keep its spirit throughout the year.
