Acadia - The Trip North

Guess who drove the entire 1700+ miles up the coast? And did you know you drive through 14 different states to get from our home in Palm Beach County to Acadia National Park? After loading the van with all our camping gear, the first day we drove through Florida, Georgia and into South Carolina before stopping for the night.

All through South Carolina we saw billboards advertising this "South of the Border" place, but we still weren't enticed to stop.

Virginia

My favorite segment of the trip was the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Going through the Harbor Tunnel was pretty cool also.

There's Manhattan! We crossed into New York over the George Washington Bridge. Be prepared to pay a hefty toll. We also learned our decision to purchase a Sunpass Pro before we left was a good one. Otherwise we'd have to pay the "bill by plate" rates, because there are no long any manned toll booths.

We made it to Connecticut, where we spent the night. I loved driving by all the signs to towns I record while doing family history. Maybe someday we'll take the time to stop and explore some of them.

The straight shot to Maine goes through Hartford, Connecticut. We took a little detour to go through Providence, Rhode Island. That was a "new" state for both of us.

New Hampshire

We made it to Maine!

And then we made it to Acadia National Park, and our campsite at the Blackwoods Campground.
