Acadia - Great Head Trail

Great Head is the name of the mountain jutting out next to Sand Beach at Acadia National Park, and to reach the trailhead, you walk the length of the beach, and then cross a stream. (Depending upon the tides you may get your feet wet.)

The trail starts out fairly even, but quickly becomes steep and rocky. One of our memories of this particular hike was watching some young women help an older gentleman with a cane over the rough terrain. So kind of them!

There's a marker at the top, and incredible views all along the way.
