Acadia - Acadia Mountain

After completing the "must-do" hikes, we still had time for more. I figured the namesake mountain might be a good trail to explore, and it was. Because it was off the beaten path, we didn't pass a lot of hikers (but you still need to get to the parking area early if you want to find a spot), and we enjoyed a pleasant climb up Acadia Mountain.

We got an early start and enjoyed our climb through the forest. Look at this gorgeous view from the summit!

Going down was a bit more steep and rocky.

The route basically led us straight down the mountain to the sound, where we found a little waterfall.

Then we climbed back up the mountain partway to an old road, which led us back to the parking lot. Maybe some day we'll come back and explore some of the trail offshoots.
