Jupiter Riverwalk

This week's hike was a city walk - the Jupiter Riverwalk, which starts at the ocean (intersection of A1A and Ocean Way) and follows the Intracoastal Waterway to the Loxahatchee River, (or at least it will when it's totally completed). It was a warm day, so not being able to start until the late afternoon was actually a good thing.

Ocean Way (Stop #1 on the map) deadends at the northeast corner of Jupiter Ridge Natural Area (Stop #2) before heading over to the Intracoastal.

We hadn't gone far before there was a detour due to some construction; fortunately, it wasn't too long.

The path traveled along Mangrove Bay (Stop #3)

Before going over the Lagoon Bridge (Stop #4)

And along the Jupiter Yacht Club Marina (Stop #5)

Next up was "The Plaza Down Under on the Riverwalk" (Stop #6)

Which is next to the Riverwalk Entertainment District (Stop #7), also known as Harbourside Place

A little further up the road we made it to Burt Reynolds Park (Stop #8). This is a nice park, which apparently we've visited before, but so long ago that we couldn't really remember doing so. The park is on both sides of the busy street, with a pedestrian underpass, and has boat ramps on each side, along with plenty of parking, lots of picnic tables, and a playground.

Stops #9 and #10 are still under construction, along with the last bit of the trail. We turned around at the sidewalk blockade and retraced our steps, stopping at Harbourside for dinner at the Calaveras Cantina.

The literature stated this was a 2.5 mile walk; Wayne thought it might be 5 miles one-way. It turned out to be 7 1/2 miles round-trip, and the scenery on the way back to our car was just as beautiful on the return trip.
