Bermuda Cruise - Exploring Day One

 

We had 2 1/2 days to spend in Bermuda, so I did some research to figure out how to best spend our time. The weather wasn't as nice as we hoped it might be, but we didn't let that stop us, and the itinerary we came up with turned out to be just perfect. First up was exploring the Royal Naval Dockyard, which was walking distance from the ship's pier.

The ship arrived in Bermuda early in the morning.

We walked to the museum (but didn't go inside), checked out the beach (overpriced), explored the clocktower shops (typical tourist fare), and bought some bus tokens for our afternoon activity - go check out a pink sand beach.

While there are beautiful beaches all along the coast, Wayne wanted to go to the "famous" one, so we hopped off the bus at Horseshoe Bay. If you look closely, you can find some pink grains of sand, and maybe the lack of blue skies and sun had something to do with it, but I was disappointed to not see a "pink sand beach." Due to the plethora of man-of-war being washed up, we didn't go in the water, either. However, overall we were not disappointed in our visit, and had a wonderful time exploring this beach. Note that if you go past the main area, you can even find a little private beach.

When the misty drizzle turned to rain, we decided it was time to head back, but even that was enjoyable. Look at the beautiful scenery we passed. And of course, by the time we reached the clock tower, the rain stopped!

The gorgeous sunset was a beautiful ending for our terrific day.
