Juno Dunes - Visit #2

Juno Dunes Natural Area is divided into two tracts - the east and the west. We explored the east side a couple of months ago, and really enjoyed that, so we were looking forward to discovering what the west side had to offer. It has a lot!

First up was a short (only 6 stops) nature trail; however, these were decently marked and so we didn't miss any.

Look at our beautiful views!

The west tract is divided north and south by Donald Ross Avenue, so after finishing the nature trail portion, we headed south and crossed the busy road. Fortunately, if you're looking, it's possible to find the start of the trail there.

We lost the trail after crossing this bridge, but quickly realized that, so turned around and found where we really wanted to be. After going through some forested area, we made it to the "dirt road" portion of the loop trail.

We took a little spur to another pedestrian entrance on Ellison Wilson Road (across from Bert Winters Park).

After completing that loop, our next destination was the boat dock on the Intracoastal. This section of the trail was just as beautiful as other sections.

Here's the little section heading back to the nature trail - a nice sandy path.

The final section, at the north end of the park, had us back on sandy roads.

Back to the car! The anticipated 4-5 miles turned into about 7 1/2, so we probably should have packed some lunch, but it was a beautiful day for a hike and we had a wonderful time.
