Jackson Riverfront Pines

Although every day is a holiday now that we're retired, it still felt right to honor Labor Day by having a hike and picnic. It was time to visit another county natural area - Jackson Riverfront Pines Natural Area. The website states that there is no parking at the site, but we discovered that Tequesta Park was only a mile away. That's where we parked, and then we had a picnic there afterwards.

Apparently Tequesta Park is part of Jonathan Dickinson State Park; that makes the name of the railroad track crossing - Camp Murphy South - make sense.

Three acres isn't very large, which means it didn't take us long to explore the natural area. However, there was plenty to see - flowers, trees, birds, and the river. Those who live in the surrounding neighborhood are pretty lucky to have such a treasure so close to them. We live in a beautiful world!
