A Great Day at a Great Lake

And a great birthday celebration as well!

One of Cody's life goals was to visit one of the Great Lakes. We were happy to join her on that adventure, and since Lake Erie is the closest to Ann Arbor, that's where we went. (Sorry no special picture of Cody, but you get one of Steven since we went on his birthday.)

We were quite impressed with this state park, and particularly amazed at the humongous parking lot. Apparently there is much more to do there than just dip your toes in the lake, but we stuck to just a couple of activities. First up was checking out the playground.

After exploring the fun equipment, we headed over to the beach. Grandpa decided he had no desire to get his feet wet, and read his book in the shade instead, but everyone else (except William - he must take after Grandpa) got at least their feet wet. Brooke even swam all the way out to the buoy!

There's Cody! She did go swimming! And then we enjoyed yummy sandwiches and chips for lunch.

If the kids were all teenagers, we might have stayed longer, but they're not, so we went home for naps and quiet time before continuing the birthday celebration with grilled steak and delicious homemade cheesecake.

Happy Birthday to You, dear Steven!
