Royal Palm Beach Commons Park

Doesn't this look like a lovely city park? It definitely is. Royal Palm Beach Commons was the next park to visit in Royal Palm Beach. I'd been to this park several times before; it was a favorite destination for our Relief Society park activities. And while we had walked through it once to get to another park, we were looking forward to spending some time exploring this park officially.

The first order of business was eating our picnic lunch. We selected a table near the splash pad, mainly because it was close to parking, but also because we thought watching other people's children having fun would be great entertainment. It was.

Then we headed off to walk the perimeter. It would have been smart to figure out in advance how long that was. If I had realized it was close to six miles, I would have worn different shoes and put on some sunscreen. We had a wonderful time anyway appreciating our beautiful world.

Among other things, the "great lawn" is the site for the city's Fourth of July celebration. On the day we visited, there were just a few families scattered here and there, but I imagine it's a different story on the holiday.

This park has a little golf driving range, and it was being used. I'm not sure where they got the balls, though, because the building and ball machine were closed due to Covid restrictions.

We were confused for awhile, but finally figured out what these random cement slabs were. Do you know? They're the "tees" for disc golf! That will be the activity for our next visit; we're looking forward to trying a new sport. Who wants to come with us?
