Saturdays in June - #4

The next hike in the Florida trail book was a long one in Myakka River State Park, on the other side of the state, so we decided to turn it into a camping trip. We figured camping and hiking was a good socially-distant activity, and it was. We had a great time, even if we did get our feet a bit wet, and we'll be back again!

After setting up our tent, we did a bit of exploring around the Big Flats Marsh Campground, which was near Myakka Lake.

The next morning, after packing up our campsite, we headed over to the trailhead and hiked the Bee Island Loop. It was a beautiful day as you can see from the following pictures. We enjoyed walking through wooded areas as well as prairies. For the most part the trail was easily discerned, although it was obvious not very many people use it.

We made it back to the car! And then enjoyed a beautiful drive home. There are definitely some cute and quaint towns across the center of Florida, along with some gorgeous scenery.
