New Year's Day Hike - The 2018 Version

Holidays which equate to no work mean time to take a hike. 2018's hike was at the Wellington Environmental Reserve, found at the western edge of town close to the everglades. We started by walking the perimeter, dirt path, including the spur to the island. However, we saved exploring the island itself until walking on the paved paths. Every so often there were placards describing the wildlife which helped us to identify some of what we saw. We also climbed the tower and appreciated the views from there. It was a serene and beautiful place to do some walking, and a perfect way to start the new year.

Note: We took the shortest route according to the map, but we should have followed the phone's app, because the map didn't show that that road was a dirt road. It reminded me of the washboard roads of southern Utah. Needless to say, we took the long - paved - way home.
