Ace Gap

To get to the Ace Gap trail head, we had to drive on the Rich Mountain Road. Along the way we got beautiful views of both Cades Cove

and Tuckaleechee Cove to the north. We also ran into a couple of fallen trees. Since this is a one-way road, turning around really wasn't an option. Fortunately, with some effort we were able to drag them out of the way. I forgot to take a "before" picture, but I did remember to take an "after" one.

Read a description of this trail here. It was a pretty trail, mostly flat, which was nice after a couple of days of steep up and down trails.

We enjoyed a little rest at Ace Gap itself.

We made it to the end of the Ace Gap Trail. Wayne would have liked to have gone down the Beard Cane Trail, but we were told it had lots of fallen trees from a recent storm, and we didn't have a lot of extra time. I guess we'll be going back some day.

Even this trail had some fallen trees; this one was the most difficult to climb over.

Made it back to the car!
