DuPuis - Loop 1

Time for another hike from the Hiking Florida book, this time it's #89 at DuPuis Wildlife Management Area. This particular trail is a series of interconnected loop trails, so we'll take four trips to complete the "single" hike. Let's start with Loop #1! We parked at Gate 2 - the "hiking entrance" and set off to the Governer's Picnic Area where the loop trail begins. (On future visits, we'll drive directly there, but we need to hike the connecting trail first.)

Let's get a close-up of that sign in the back. It looks like it needs to be replaced!

Taking our bearings at the beginning of the loop.

Just follow the signs. Fortunately, the trail was fairly well marked.

There were a few wet spots, but most of the time our feet stayed dry.

We walked through typical South Florida natural terrain (complete with evidence of feral hogs), and although a bit cloudy, it was still a gorgeous day.

After completing the 4 mile loop, we retraced our steps to the parking area. We highly recommend this trail. Let us know if you ever try it yourself.
