Pahokee Campground
Part of the plan to hike the east side of Lake Okeechobee included camping in Pahokee, mainly in order to save on driving times. Camping in Florida in July, with its heat and humidity, isn't the most pleasurable, but we still had a nice time. We were right on the lake which provided many beautiful views. In addition, the Florida Trail goes right through this campground, so Day 1 ended at camp and Day 2 started there.
Giant boulders around the edge keep the alligators in the water and not up on land.
Can't forget to celebrate my birthday! We actually saw fireworks this year, and we could watch them right from our campsite.
