Picnic in the Park

Jonathan Dickinson Park
The Tenth Visit - or a Visit in March

The last time we visited Jonathan Dickinson Park, we stopped by the horse area and double-checked times and hours. They said they'd be there until Easter (they go north for the summer months), so we figured this would be a great place to take the grandkids when they visited for spring break. The plan was to take the wagon ride all together, and then let the girls go on a pony ride afterward. We packed up a barbecue and were on our way!

Unfortunately, when we got there, the horses were being shoed and weren't available for the wagon ride, but we were assured the ponies would be available after lunch. So, we switched our activities around and had a barbecue first.

While we were waiting for the coals to get ready, the kids checked out the playground and the dock.

The hamburgers were delicious, and the special Easter cookies were even better! Then it was back to the horse area. We weren't very happy to discover it was still closed, but someone told us they would be open again in an hour or so. Unfortunately, that someone lied. After waiting around for a while we decided this activity would have to be postponed until next year. Oh well! Fortunately it was an absolutely gorgeous day and the company was great.
