Plan B for the Picnic

The original plan for Saturday evening was to attend the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point, meeting the Provo kids there and sharing a picnic dinner. However, after being stuck in non-moving traffic for over 30 minutes, we decided to make a u-turn and try Plan B.

We headed up American Fork Canyon and stopped at the Swinging Bridge Picnic Area. Maybe there used to be a swinging bridge, but the one we crossed was quite sturdy. David found a fire pit that still had warm ashes, and decided that we should bring it back to life.
It was nice to know that there were special buckets available in case things got out of control, but fortunately they didn't!
After a delicious picnic supper, we took the short, paved nature trail up to the Timpanogos Cave parking area, about 1/4 mile each way. Although quite chilly, it was a gorgeous hike.
As usual, though, the company was even more beautiful. Thanks for graduating, Steven, and giving us an excuse to visit!
