Nauvoo - Old Nauvoo

There are a lot of pictures, so there will be several posts, but here's proof that we had a busy and enjoyable time in Nauvoo.
First stop was the Visitors' Center, looking at a few exhibits, and watching the touching film - Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration.A wagon ride gives a great overview of Historic Nauvoo, and then we started visiting the buildings - The BrickyardThe Blacksmith ShopThe Browning Home and Gun ShopThe Printing OfficeJohn Taylor's home(There's a story about this rocking horse in the March 2010 Friend.)The Tinsmith Shop(All of the missionary guides were wonderful.)After stopping at the Land and Records Office, we took a field trip to see the plot where Jake's ancestors had lived in the 1840's.The cemeteryThe statue of Joseph and Hyrum
The walk down Parley Street
which ends at the Pioneer Memorial. There's a wonderful spirit to be found in Old Nauvoo, whether you have ancestors that actually lived there or not. What a treat it was to be able to visit the town again.
